Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella announced Tuesday afternoon on his Facebook account that he tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Baliwag Municipal Administrator Enrique Tagle, “contrary to circulating reports he has no recent history of travel to any of the COVID19 affected countries at least in the last sixty days. His last trip abroad was last Jan. 2, when he left for the United Arab Emirates.”
The 40-year-old mayor wrote that he has already sought medical attention after experiencing the two common symptoms of the viral disease.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that he is in a stable condition and continues to monitor the improvement of Baliwag, to ensure the safety and welfare of his constituents.
PREPARATION FOR THE COVID-19
Meanwhile, the Local Government of Baliwag assures everyone that they are performing their duties and multiplying their efforts, especially during this period.
As part of their preparation, the Baliwag Covid-19 Task Force is preparing to distribute items such as alcohol, soap, face masks, and vitamins to the 10,000 indigent families in the area.
Moreover, the Baliwag ICT Office develops a system for contract tracing for COVID-19 patients. This is to determine faster those individuals who could have been in close contact with a positive case, as well as to halt any further spread of the said virus within the town.
To end his statement, Mayor Estrella expresses his gratitude towards all heroic front liners and everyone in the skeletal workforce for serving our country and people.
Also, he encouraged everyone to remain inside their homes until the President lifts the state of calamity throughout the Philippines.
