As the Local Government Unit of Baliwag observes Fire Prevention Month this 2019, the Local Chief Executive Hon. Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella spear headed the capacity building, training and seminar for the Fire Volunteers in Emergency in the Municipality who are joined with Baliwag’s esteemed Fire Fighting Volunteer Groups.
The Baliwag Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office partnered with Baliwag Bureau of Fire Protection and The Regional Bureau of Fire Protection’s Special Rescue Unit to train and harness the fire fighters and volunteers skills and capability in Fire suppression and prevention.
The special training course was conducted last March 18, 2019 up to March 21, 2019 where in the following groups participated : Simbulan Fire Fighting Team, Baliwag Transit Fire Fighting Team, Tarcan AC/DC Rescue Team, Sto Cristo MRL Rescue Team, Baliwag Rescue FVE, Baliwag All Ladies Emergency Rescue Team and BARG Fire and Rescue Team. The four days of training and seminar tested the volunteers strength and knowledge in handling fire situations, that are later on developed and improved with the expert supervision of the BFP Special Rescue Unit lead by S/INSP Amando Elevado Jr and S/INSP Dianne Tamayo.
After the culminating activity, Hon. Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella together with the MDRRM Council provided those that finished the Special Course on Fire Fighting with a standard Fireman’s Suit (Head gear, gloves, trouser, jacket and fireman’s boots), fire blanket, standard first aid kit per Volunteer Group and certificates of completion. It was also in the same event that the Local Chief Executive gave the Baliwag All Ladies Emergency Rescue Team with their standard Leaders and Members Uniform, the Baliwag Rescue FVE complete standard tactical Uniform and the two newly procured Automatic Electronic Defibrillator that will further improve the capacity of our rescue unit in providing life saving services.
It has always been tha advocacy of the Mayor to ensure the safety and well-being of all Baliwagenyo’s that is why provision of safety equipment and tools are just one of the safety programs features but the training and seminar in which Baliwagenyo’s will experience first hand from our esteemed partner agencies from all around the region is the very essence of preparing and equipping each citizen with the right knowledge and skills that will make them always ready and able at times of unforeseen disasters.
