Last August 7-8, 2018, the Local Population Office together with the Commission on Population-Region III, conducted the U4U Teen Trail Caravan Training of Facilitators in the Municipality of Baliwag. Sangguniang Kabataan Councilors from different barangays in Baliwag were invited to join the said training. Together with them were from the Government Internship Program, Immersions from schools here in Baliwag, Local Youth Development Office and Population Office.
The Commission on Population – Regional Office led the 2-day training. The first day consists of the technicalities and contents of the program while the second day is the demonstration of the activity to our selected school.
The following day, the Pilot U4U Teen Trail Caravan was done in Mariano Ponce National High School with 120 students from Grade 9. We are very much pleased with the presence of our Regional Director Eleonor Cura in our very first U4U Teen Trail. After a brief message, we started the activity with a small orientation on the students. The facilitators spread out to their assigned tasks and disseminated information on Adolescent Health. The regional director together with our Population Officer, Ms. Brenda C. Bernardo observed the facilitators during the activity.
In just a month, this was followed by our second batch with St. Mary’s College of Baliuag with 232 Grade 7 students. The said school was very active in empowering their students with information most especially the youth.
The same facilitators were present to offer their help to spread awareness on Adolescent Health. The school had given us their feedback and were very much happy with the information that their students learned from the activity. We are hoping for more batches to come to spread awareness and information through interactive learning.
