Last July 31, 2018, the Municipal Population Office conducts a Photography Contest and Exhibit among Senior High Schools students within Baliwag. This is in celebration of the World Population Day with the theme, “Family Planning is a Human Right.” The said activity has 6 entries from four (4) senior highschools: a.) three (3) entries from Sto. Niño High School; b.) one (1) entry from Baliuag University; c.) one (1) entry from Baliwag Polytechnic College; and d.) one (1) entry from St. Joseph College of Baliuag, Inc. The program was hosted by Mr. Michael Ismael Flores, with special participation of Mr. Lowell Tagle as one of the speakers. The photo entries of the students was judged by Ms. Maricel Sison, Mr. Antonio Sablan and Mr. Mark Joseph Villanueva.
The photographs of the contestants were conceptualized based on the 2018 theme of the World Population Day which aims to increase awareness on Family Planning among Baliwageño youth and to know how young minds understand the theme. The students were advised to use camera phones as their apparatus for the photos instead of high-end cameras. This promotes creativity as well as resourcefulness on making good shots with just using simple camera phones.
Three winners were selected after a careful deliberation by the judges: Grand Champion – Radiance Faith Domingo (Baliuag University); 1st Runner Up – Jeddie Kein Delos Santos (Sto. Niño High School); and 2nd Runner Up – Aira Joyce Ramos (Baliwag Polytechnic College).
The program was a big success since the contestants was able to share to their fellow youth their own thoughts on Family Planning as well as its importance even at their young age. Empowerment of our youth is not just something our Mayor Ferdie Estrella take for granted. The services and programs we provide is offered to all Baliwageños, Serbisyong May Malasakit to all ages.
