Another accomplishment was bestowed to the municipality of Baliwag as their municipality’s Ten-Year Solid Waste Management Plan has been approved by the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC). The awarding was held on September 25, 2018 at Torre Venezia Suites, Santiago, Quezon City alongside with other municipalities. The resolution for approval of the said plan was received by MENRO Baliwag Edgar S. Luna.
Before the approval of the municipality’s Ten-Year Ecological Solid Waste Management Plan, it undergoes numerous deliberation. The first deliberation of the 10YrSWMP was held on the month of June and was successfully defended by Baliwag’s municipal Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella. It was followed by the final deliberation on September 19, 2018 and was recommended for approval by the National Solid Waste Management Commission Executive Committee (NSWMC ExeCom).
The ten-year Solid Waste Management Plan will serve as the reference of the Municipality of Baliwag for the year 2017-2027 in its implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Program consistent with the provisions of Republic Act No. 9003 which aims to sustain the practice of proper waste segregation, collection, reduction, and diversion of solid waste, promoting entrepreneurship and marketing linkages for funding.
The approval of the municipality’s 10yrSWMP is an undeniable proof that the municipality is exerting great efforts in delivering best environmental practices through its Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) in line with its goal to provide Serbisyong may Malasakit for Baliwageños as well as for the environment.
