MFVE’s #HappyKaarawaanGoalsYear3: Job Fair and One Stop Shop Processing



On his 2nd day of a week-long celebration of #HappyKaarawanGoalYear3, the Municipality of Baliwag thru the assistance of the Public Employment Service Office recently conducted a Job Fair and One Stop Shop Processing with the theme “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” on September 04, 2018 at Baliwag Star Arena, DRT Highway, Pagala, Baliwag, Bulacan.

The event was well attended by representatives from the different partner agencies of PESO, Mr. Nedy Roxas – PESO Baliwag Consultant, Jennelyn G. Marcelo – PESO Manager, Ms. Flordeliza Tamayo – Division Chief – PYSPESO represented Ms. Elizabeth L Alonzo, Department Head – PYSPESO, Mr. Lauro C. Villanueva, Senior Labor and Employment Officer-DOLE represented Ms. May Lynn Gozun, Provincial Director – DOLE and Ms. Grace Corazon C. Castillo – Provincial Director – TESDA, and Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella.

There were 37 companies that participated with over 868 job seekers from Baliwag and nearby towns and provinces.  There were 227 or 26% Hired on the Spot (HOTS), higher than the average placement rate.  The ONE STOP SHOP PROCESSING was participated by 6 different government agencies: Philippines Statistic Authority (PSA), PagIbig, Municipal Treasury Office, Philippine National Police-Baliwag, Department of Trade and Industry, and Social Security System. Two hundred twenty nine (229) job seekers were able to secure employment related documents. There was also a free candle making training for those who would like to learn how to make candles as their business.

The program was opened with an opening remarks from Mr. Nedy Roxas – PESO Consultant. He gave his thanks to all agencies, companies, and most especially to the invited guests of the job fair.

“Sana ito na ang araw para ang inyong mga pangarap ay magkaroon ng katuparan na magkaroon ng trabaho. Let’s cross our fingers at good luck sa inyong lahat” – Mr. Roxas added.

Mr. Lauro Villanueva – Senior Labor and Employment Office, were also present to greet and give his message to guests and all applicants. He also mention how Baliwagenyos are lucky to have a non-stop employment programs, aside from the local recruitment activities, Job fairs  are conducted twice a year and supported by the local government and PESO. Mr. Villanueva also added that they are monitoring all the companies to make sure that they are giving the minimum wage for employees.

Ms. Grace Corazon C. Castillo – Provincial Director – TESDA started her message with a birthday greeting to Mayor Ferdie. Ms. Castillo said she was happy that TESDA was invited and also impressed on how LGU and PESO Baliwag managed to conduct not only a job fair event but also invited government agencies to assist job-seekers with documentary requirements. Ms. Castillo added that scholarships are also available for those who would like to have additional skills and they are tied up with the schools located in Baliwag.

“Nais ko pong ibalita sa inyo na ang TESDA ay patuloy sa pagkakaloob ng scholarship programs sa ibat-ibang eskwelahan sa ating lalawigan at marami din kaming eskwelahan dito sa Baliwag na nagbibigay ng scholarships.” – she added.

Finally, Hon. Ferdinand V. Estrella, Municipal Mayor of Baliwag warmly welcomed and gave his inspirational message to all job seekers. He mentioned that Job Fair is one of his prepared events in line for his week-long Happy Kaarawan Goals as a way of giving appreciation for all the support that the LGU has received. Mayor Ferdie also encouraged job seekers to select a job position that would best match their skills and it would help them stay longer in the company. He will continue to support and invite companies and investors to provide more opportunities and employment.

“Sa araw na ito, ibinabalik ko sa inyo ang pagbati at sana ngayong job fair na ito, marami sa inyo ang mahired on the spot.” – Mayor Ferdie added.

A well spent #HappyKaarawanGoalsYear3. The Local Government of Baliwag with the help of PESO Baliwag will continue to provide more employment programs to  the Baliwagenyos.
