In line with the goal of the K to 12 Basic Education Program to produce grade 10 students who are ready for a higher education, middle level skills development, employment and entrepreneurship, Virgen delas Flores High School (VDFHS) facilitated a seminar in celebration of their Career Week Celebration 2018 with the theme “Making Sound and Informed Career Choices through the K to 12: Honing 21st Century Skills of the Filipino Youth” on August 29, 2018 at the Virgen Delas Flores High School (VDFHS), Virgen Delas Flores (VDF), Baliwag, Bulacan. This program aims to provide set of information to avoid job mismatch and to help the students with the ideal senior high school tracks that would fit their  personalities and skills as they embark another milestone in their lives

The program formally started by an opening remarks from Ms. Cynthia Dela Cruz – Principal II by giving a warm welcome to the teachers, students, and to the resource speaker invited for the seminar. According to Ms. Dela Cruz, when she was on her high school, no seminars were conducted to help them choose what degree program is the best for them, therefore, students nowadays are fortunate to have this kind of activity that will assist them in choosing what to take up in senior high school.

Ms. Jennelyn Marcelo – PESO Manager from LGU Baliwag was invited as resource speaker.  She started her discussion by asking some of the students of their chosen strands for senior high school. She further discussed each strands or tracks and the college courses that they may take. She also showed different schools within Baliwag and other nearby town that offers senior high school strands.

In an interview with some of the students, they mention how this seminar can assist them in choosing the right track for them.

“Ang naitulong po sakin ng program na ito ay ‘yung matutunan ko ano talaga kung ano ang gusto kong kunin sa near future, kung ‘yung gusto ko ba talaga makakatulong sa akin at yung kung tama ba ‘yung course sa mga skills na meron ako.” – Nicole Mae Lagman from San Jose.

“Natutunan kop o at nalaman ko po ‘yung strand na dapat kong kunin kapag dating ko ng Senior High School.” – Maricar Dela Cruz – Matangtubig.
