MUNICIPALITY OF BALIWAG CELEBRATES LABOR DAY WITH TRABAHO, NEGOSYO AT KABUHAYAN JOB FAIR

 

In celebration of this year’s Labor Day, the Municipality of Baliwag under the headship of Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella thru the assistance of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), held its annual Jobs and Business Fair with the theme “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino: Dangal ng Lahi, Kabalikat sa Progresibong Pagbabago”. The event was also in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Provincial Youth, Sports, and Public Employment Service Office (PYSPESO). The event was graced by Ms. May Lynn Gozun – Provincial Director, DOLE Bulacan, Mr. Larry Villanueva –  Senior Labor and Employment Officer, DOLE Bulacan, Coun. Joel Pascual, Jimmy Santiago – President, Bali Buntal, Ms. Lanie Dela Cruz – Administrative Aide, POEA and Mr. Glenn Paul Cruz – Youth Development Officer III, PYSPESO. This beneficial prospect was conducted at the Municipal Grounds, Municipality of Baliwag, B.S Aquino Ave., Bagong Nayon, Baliwag, Bulacan last May 01, 2018.

Forty (40) local companies and two (2) overseas agencies participated together with their corresponding representatives. With over 700 job seekers from Baliwag, in nearby towns and provinces, a total of 132 (17.31%) successfully passed the application process and were later announced as hired on the spot. As job seekers would also need to accomplish their employment requirements, the Municipality of Baliwag also invited government agencies for the “One Stop Shop Processing” which was held simultaneous with the Job Fair. The event wouldn’t be a success without the support of the following National Government offices: Social Security System (SSS), Department of Trade and Industry, Home Development Mutual Fund or PAG-IBIG, and Philippine Health and Insurance Corporation (PHILHEALTH). These agencies gave a helping hand for the 150 job seekers who were able to secure their employment related documents.

The event was formally opened with an opening remarks from Ms. Jennelyn Marcelo – PESO Manager, as she mentioned the different services PESO Baliwag can offer for those who would like to ask for assistance. She also warmly acknowledged all the local and overseas companies and partner government agecies who participated with the event.

With two overseas agencies invited, Ms. Lanie Dela Cruz – Administrative Aide, POEA was also present to ensure smooth application process and answered inquiries from those applicants who would like to work overseas. She also mentioned that POEA  supports  the programs for overseas Filipino applicants. “Nagagalak kami dahil dito sa lugar ng Baliwag, very cooperative yung LGU Baliwag, PESO, at DOLE pagdating sa suporta sa kanilang mga nasasakupan, Pinaghandaan siya talaga (Job Fair) , hindi lang basta dumaan na Job Fair at tingin ko naman sa ganitong pagkakataon, maraming tiga-baliwag ang matutulungan niyo sa pagta-trabaho.” – she added.

Bali Buntal also participated in the Job Fair and invited nine (9) companies to join the recruitment activity and offer different job openings. According to Mr. Jimmy Santiago – President, Bali Buntal is a social civic organization founded in 1994, they are not only known for weaved buntal hats but they also extend their hands to those who are in need. They conduct activities such as feeding programs, Christmas activities, school supplies for starters, dental and medical mission, and of course, participating with Job Fairs.
“Gusto ko magpasalamat kay Mayor Ferdie Estrella and PESO for having invited us here and giving us the chance to participate on this big event. I also would like to thank DOLE, pag ini-spearhead ng DOLE ang mga job fair, nagkakaroon ng bagong pag-asa ang mga taong gustong magkatrabaho para maging mabuting mamamayan ng bansa. This is indeed a very productive and helpful especially sa mga Filipino families.” – he added.

Mr. Glenn Paul Cruz – Youth Development Officer III,  PYSPESO, encouraged the job seekers continue looking for a job and never lose hope, learn from experience, and do their research with the companies that they want to apply for. “Actually, PESO Baliwag is one of the most active dito sa Bulacan when it comes to employment activities, at livelihood projects. Just keep it up, ‘wag titigil. For now, sa nakikita namin, we are quite satisfied, employment maganda ang record, and we are running for Best PESO, ‘yun palang nakikita na yung performance ng PESO Baliwag is one of the best dito sa probinsya natin.” – he added.

In an interview with Mr. Lauro Villanueva – Senior Labor and Employment Officer from DOLE, he briefly mentioned the employment facilitation programs that DOLE offers. They are also open to help those employees who have inquiries regarding incorrect salaries, benefits, and lay-offs. “Sa partnership ng DOLE sa LGU and PESO Baliwag, Salamat po at nandiyan ang PESO Baliwag sa suporta po ng ating butihing Mayor Ferdie Estrella na kung saan sa ganitong pagkakataon ay nandiyang ang Munisipyo para i-promote o i-disseminate ang ganitong programa ng DOLE, Salamat po sa pakikipagtulungan. Maraming maraming salamat po sa Munisipyo ng Baliwag.” – he shared.

Aside for the Job Fair and One Stop Processing, the event also conducted free Soap Demo Teaching sponsored by TESDA thru Ms. Myrna A. Panganiban.  In addition, DTI also facilitated Business Counseling and Business Name Registration. While Fernandez College of Arts and Technology and Baliwag Polytechnic College send their representative to accept registration for their TESDA courses.

PESO also offered free resume priniting and photocopy of documentary requirements, free wifi connection and libreng sakay for the job seekers. Indeed, a successful Labor Day celebration thru the employment programs of the Municipality of Baliwag.  Rest assured that the LGU thru Mayor Ferdie will continue to conduct more employment facilitation programs and services for the Baliwagenyos!
