Baliwag,Bulacan- As part of the worldwide campaign to save Mother Earth, the Municipality of Baliwag through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) participated in the Earth Hour 2018: #Connect2Earth. The said event was held last April 24, 2018 at 6’o clock in the evening infront of the Baliwag Municipal Ground.
Switching off lights was done at exactly 8:30 pm spearheaded by Mayor Ferdie Estrella. It was followed by an impressive performance from Sto. Niño HS Students. Candidates for Ginoo and Binibining Baliwag also participated in the lighting of candles for Earth Hour. This advocacy is a part of the largest environmental movement to save our planet through shutting down most of our electrical appliances and turning off lights for one hour that aims to alleviate the detrimental effects of global warming.
Another highlight of the event includes the awarding of Palit-Basura store sa Paaralan to eleven (11) public schools in Baliwag. The success of the event is in partnership with different departments such as Tourism, PIO and Baliwag Web TV.
Ang Palit-Basura Store ay isang makabuluhang proyekto ng pamahalaang bayan ng Baliwag. Sa pamamagitan nito, maaaring ipalit ng mga Baliwagenyo ang kanilang mga kalakal sa mga grocery items tulad ng bigas, kape, shampoo, toothpaste, sabon, noodles at iba pa.
