“There’s always room for improvement.”
Baliwag Mayor Ferdie Estrella accepts the challenge for self-improvement, especially in his leadership skills, after being accepted as one of the 20 mayors all over the country to attend the 2018 Leaders for Excellence and Public Service (LEAP) Mayor’s Fellowship Program.
The LEAP Mayor’s Fellowship Program is a series of three leadership modules, to train and develop local government leaders to become effective, ethical, and empowering public servants.
Estrella, who is only in his first term, and one of the young mayors in the province of Bulacan, attended the First Module of the said program last February 8 to 9, at Hotel Jen Manila. This program is jointly organized by Kaya Natin Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership, and San Miguel Corporation.
LEAP’s resource persons include experts from the academe, private sector, and seasoned public servants who are tasked to share their knowledge and experience on the ff: Three E’s (Ethical, Empowering, and Effective) leadership, building and strengthening sustainable towns and Cities, alleviating poverty incidence, and intergenerational environmental programs and practices.
According to Mayor Estrella, this program is an opportune time to elevate his knowledge on good governance for sustainable development, and improve his leadership competencies as he is truly sincere and dedicated in rendering the highest form service to his constituents.
He added, “while I believe that most of our constituents are satisfied with our Serbisyong May Malasakit in Baliwag, we can still improve on our service delivery in many ways, and hopefully, the best practices to be shared by my fellow participants in the next two training sessions will be relevant and can be replicated in our municipality.
Mayor Estrella is the sole mayor from Bulacan to be part of this year’s LEAP Fellows.
