THE MUNICIPALITY OF BALIWAG: NATIONAL BREASTCANCER AWARENESS MONTH

 According to studies 1 out of 13 Filipino women has the tendency to develop breast cancer in her lifetime, that occurs with 70% of known risk factors. Breast cancer in men is a rare occurrence though it can happen.

With the said health issue, the Local Chief Executive of the Municipality of Baliwag, Mayor Ferdie Estrella, encouraged all municipal employees to express their support in the celebration of the National Breast Awareness Month through wearing pink tops instead of their usual Monday uniform last October 23 and 30.

Aside from this, employees changed their Facebook profile picture into National Breast Cancer Awareness month official template.

Dr. Nordivince R. Legaspi, Rural Health Physician of Malasakit Center explained that breast cancer can be prevented through early detection.

“Sa pagtatapos ng Worldwide Breast Cancer Awareness Month, idinidiin ng Municipal Health Office ang kahalagahan ng routine breast self-examination lalung-lalo na sa kababaihan upang maagapan ang breast cancer,” said Dr. Legaspi.

In battling breast cancer, the municipal employees through the leadership of Mayor Ferdie Estrella showed that we, Baliwageños are always “magkakatuwang.”
