October 11, 2017 – Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella led the delegation of Baliwag for the final judging of its entry for the Most Business-Friendly LGU Awards for Municipality Level 1 Category held at the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Office, McKinley Town Center, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
During the said event, Mayor FVE accompanied with a visual presentation had laid to the judges the accomplishments and initiatives of the Local Government under the following criteria: 1. Trade, Investments and Tourism Promotions; 2. Public-Private Sector Partnership; 3. MSME Development; 4. Quality Management System, Innovations and Human Resources Development and 5. Quality Customer Service.
Baliwag was announced as one of the finalists for the award along with seven other Municipalities after passing the screening and validation processes. Winners for each level will be recognized during the 43rd Philippine Business Conference at the Manila Hotel on October 19 and will be awarded by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte himself.
Present during the final judging with the Local Chief Executive were Chief of Staff Melanie Cruz, Treasurer Martiniano Javier, BPLO Head Henry Cruz, PIO Head Antonio Sablan, PESO OIC Jennelyn Marcelo, HRMO Head Esther Cabigao, LEIPO Karen Joy Rivera, April Ardona (MAsOffice), Elmer Alcanar (MAs Office) and to give their support were President Bien Gonzales and Vice President William Bacani of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Baliwag, Inc. (CCIBI).
This is an additional achievement in Baliwag’s history when it comes to business-friendliness and competitiveness because last August, it was recognized as the 3rd Most Improved Municipality for 1st-2nd class level at the National Competitive Council, ranking from 413 last year up to 62nd this year.
Among the many initiatives undertaken by the Municipal Government to qualify being a business-friendly LGU are the amendment of the local investment code, and the establishment of the Baliwag Investment Promotions Office, opening of the Negosyo Center, organization of the MSME Council, human resource training and trade fairs.
The municipality is also an active partner of the various local chambers which is evident as Bulacan Chamber of Commerce had nominated it to the prestigious award, also with other government agencies which include Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
