Baliwag set its best foot forward to achieve peaceful celebration of the upcoming Undas 2017 as Baliwagenyos commemorate with their departed love ones.
Known as one of the towns with the most number of cemeteries in the country, Baliwag homes for various cemeteries some of which are; Baliwag Municipal Cemetery, Catholic Cemetery, Baliwag Memorial Cemetery, Gateway to Heaven, Makinabang Cemetery, Mt. Zion Cemetery, Yabut Cemetery and the recently opened Golden Gate Cemetery. With this volume of cemeteries, Baliwag foresees huge number of crowd that will visit the respective niches of their love ones. Thus, as early as the initial week of October, Mayor Ferdie Estrella commands to create the Technical Working Committee that will be responsible for the safety, coordination and security of the town most especially on barangays where these cemeteries are located days prior to October 31 – November 03.
The Technical Working Committee headed by the Municipal Administrator Enrique Tagle dubbed the Oplan Kaluluwa that aims to secure peace and public safety as the town expects thousands of people that will be visiting the graves of their love ones on cemeteries in Baliwag. The TWG has been meeting almost on every week to furnish each detail of the plan.
Baliwag Traffic Management Office presented a Rerouting Plan that will guide motorists during the occasion. Streets around the major cemeteries in Baliwag will be declared one way to reserve the other side for the bulk numbers of pedestrians that will be visiting from one cemetery to another. In line with this, parking areas are also identified by BTMO.
Baliwag Rescue FVE, Municipal Health Office together with their partner Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) also vow to give medical and emergency assistance for the public. Meanwhile, the Baliwag PNP along with some CSO’s also established keen security plan to ensure public safety as they enforce mandatory bag inspection upon entrance to cemeteries. Barangay Tanod are also placed on every street junctions to assist motorist that may encounter difficulty in finding Exit and Entrance Points.
Public advisories about what to bring and what not to are posted both on official social media pages of Baliwag and designated tarpaulin posting locations in town to remind the public of the rules and regulations during the celebration. Some of the reminders include Proper Garbage Disposal, Way Finding Signages, Inspect Booths and others. Leaflets that contains all necessary information like emergency hotlines, location map for rerouting and personnel finding will also be provided by the LGU through the Public Information Office and Public Assistance and Complaint Center.
Free WiFi access will also be established during the celebration that may allow the public to post social media status and other concerns online. In accordance, the free WiFi also encourage Baliwagenyos to download the latest Baliwag HiFVE App available for free on Google Playstore for updates, announcements and other concerns in Baliwag.
Through the efforts and cooperation of different offices of the Municipality, Baliwag ensures that the day where niches becomes a reunion venue for families will be secured for everyone.
