Last August 22, 2017, the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) had a meeting to finalize its Manual of Procedure as part of the Calendar of Activities for ISO 9001:2015.
Henry T. Cruz, the head of BPLO, explains the various processes observed in the office like the business permit application, Motorized Tricycle Operators Permit (MTOP) application, issuance of various documents such as Mayor’s Clearance, Affidavit of Non-Filing, Certificate of Closure of Business and Certificate of No Business.
According to him, each person assigned to a particular task should be responsible enough to perform it as a part, not only of BPLO but of the entire organizational structure of the municipal government of Baliwag.
ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, is a non-governmental organization composed of members from national standards bodies of many countries. In a seminar conducted for orienting the employees of the municipal government, Jennifer M. De Leon, ISO consultant, enumerates its advantages: creates a more efficient, effective operation; reduces audits; enhances marketing; improves employee motivation, awareness, and morale; promotes international trade; increases profit; reduces waste and increases productivity; and common tool for standardization.
The present administration, under the leadership of Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella, is serious in making this certification audit happen.
There will still be sets of activities prior the grant of the ISO Certification after the preparation of manuals by the different offices of the municipal government like the approval of manuals, checking/updating of records/forms, final printing of approved QMS documents, reproduction of QMS manuals for issuance, training of internal auditors, internal audit and management review.
