The Municipality of Baliwag thru the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office with the Solo Parent Federation in partnership with the Provincial Youth, Sports and Employment Development Office (PYSEDO),  Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Baliwag conducted the Skills Training Orientation for Solo Parents on August 11, 2017 at the Municipal Conference Room, Municipal Annex Building, Bagong Nayon, Baliwag, Bulacan.  This program aims to help the solo parents attain additional skills as their means to augment income with the vision of engaging them into a viable and self-employment undertaking uplifting the quality of their lives.

This program was made possible and spearheaded by Ms. Josephine Lopez – Department Head, MSWDO,  Mr. Jaime Quizon – Solo Parent Federation President and Ms. Helen Abiog – Solo Parent Federation Vice President.

Trainers from TESDA – Ms. Yollanda Villarama and Ms. Imelda Blancia will conduct the         Candle Making with Flower Arrangement, Party Balloon Making, Gift Wrapping trainings and Beauty Care. Ms Maureen De Guzman and Ms. Jovie Clemente, Skills Training Consultant, PYSEDO – conducted the orientation with the assistance of Ms. Maureen De Guzman.

Ms. Jovie Clemente encouraged the solo parent attendees to finish the training as well as to take the National Competency Assessment.   She also mentioned the challenges of being solo parents as they have to work hard for their families and sending out their kids to school. She also added that this training would allow them to gain additional income for the family.

Ms. Brenda Bernardo – Head, Nutrition and Population Office gave her message and told the participants that they are very lucky to be part of the program and assured them that her office fully supports the Solo Parent Programs.

The trainings will start this August or September and all the participants will be provided with start-up kits. Good Luck Participants!
