The Municipality of Baliwag stands proud to be chosen by the ADHD Society of the Philippines to be the host city and Co-Presentor of the National Congress for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.
A recognized disability, ADHD is not very popular among teachers and practioners and the lack of understanding oftentimes lead to malpractice and myopic interventions. Akala malikot o sobrang galawgaw lang yung bata.
According to Wikipedia, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) is a mental disorder of theneurodevelopmental type. It is characterized by problems paying attention, excessive activity, or difficulty controlling behavior which is not appropriate for a person’s age. The symptoms appear before a person is twelve years old, are present for more than six months, and cause problems in at least two settings (such as school, home, or recreational activities). In children, problems paying attention may result in poor school performance. Although it causes impairment, particularly in modern society, many children with ADHD have a good attention span for tasks they find interesting.
The congress hopes to orient daycare practitioners, parents, social workers, pwd’s and paychologists regarding proper behavior management of this disorder. The congress is scheduled on October 21.
