The Metro Manila Earthquake Impact Reduction Study (MMEIRS) estimated the damage of approximately 40% of building and structures in Metro Manila area, when the West Valley Fault (WVF) that traverses along NCR and parts of Region 3 will move. Based on this study, the approximate number of casualties (death & injuries) will be 52,000 and there will be additional 18,000 deaths due to anticipated fire generated during the movement Damages to lives and properties are really enormous, if the Big One will happen.
It is for this reason that the department of Health Regional Office 3 is actively preparing to minimize anticipated damages to lives and properties through contingency planning Hence, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Health (DRRM-H) office of DOH-Region 3 is now conducting a Regional Consultative Meeting for the “Big One” since July 25, 2017 at Fortana Hot Spring Leisure Parks CM Recto Highway, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
Our Municipal Health Officer, DR. MARY JOAN DINLASAN was invited to attend the said activity and represents the Local Government of Baliwag in the absence of our very hard working Local Chief Executive, HON. FERDINAND V. ESTRELLA that is currently at Los Angeles, meeting with the Baliwageno Community there.
Since the Local Government of Baliwag always strives hard to safeguard the community from disasters and calamities, strategic planning and preparation on certain dangers are always executed and with this new learning imparted by the MMEIRS, the Local Government will further enhance and improved all safety measures implemented to ensure the overall safety of all Baliwagenos.
