ORIENTATION ON BAHAY-BAHAY STRATEGY (FAMILY PLANNING) FOR HEALTH SERVICE PROVIDERS AT THE GRASS ROOT LEVEL.
Bahay-bahay strategy orientation seminar was held last June 20-21, 2017 at Grace Crown Hotel, Angeles City, Pampanga. The said orientation was given by the Commission on Population Region III. It aims to have a harmonious relationship between the concerned agency, the Department of Health and Population Commission. This strategy was made to catch the unmet need in different municipalities with high rate of cases. Unmet need is defined as couple and women who are fecund and sexually active and want to limit or space their children but are not using any modern contraceptive methods. The POPCOM staff are responsible for the demand generation activity, service delivery network and mobilization of community volunteer while on the other hand the DOH staff are responsible for the provision of Family Planning services and counseling.
The government amended the Executive Order No.12 series of 2017, “Attaining and Sustaining Zero Unmet Need for modern family planning through the strict implementation of the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act.
RPRH LAW is one of the socio-economic agenda of President Duterte to end poverty and fight inequality by 2030 thru universal access to sexual and reproductive health care service and rights.
The Regional Population Commission Office made this strategy orientation to intensify and accelerate action necessary to attain zero unmet need for Family Planning by 2018.
The Department of Health and Population Commission joined hand in hand in order to meet the Sustainable Development Goal of President Duterte’s Health Agenda.
