The Municipality of Baliwag under the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office attended the seminar training on Solid Waste Management and Technology. It was headed by the University of the Philippines National Engineering Center with the theme “Application of the Best Available Technologies and Best Environmental Practices (BAT/BEP) to reduce the emissions of Dioxins and Furans from Solid Waste”.
The said seminar training was conducted at Oriental Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay on June 7-10, 2017. The training intends to equip participants with the tools and knowledge regarding safe closure and rehabilitation of disposal facilities. Through this, it is also a great opportunity to local government units to share lessons about the current different stages of preparation and implementation of their Action Plan addressing the concern on open burning in local communities and in disposal sites. The training also includes a site visit to dumpsite facility undergoing closure.
Participants from the said seminar were different representatives from LGUs nationwide mostly from Mindanao region.
