The Department of Labor and Employment thru the office of Congressman Gavini “APOL” Pancho and the Public Employment Service Office is currently implementing Administrative Oder No.39 Series of 2014 also known as the DOLE Government Internship Program (DOLE-GIP).  This program aims to provide opportunity to poor/indigent young workers to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service with the ultimate objective of attracting the best and the brightest who want to pursue a career in the government service, particularly in the fields of labor and employment.

Mayor Ferdinand V. Estrella fully supports the implementation of this program as one of the priorities of his administration is youth empowerment.  There will be 26 Baliwagenyos to benefit from this great program of the government.  They underwent the usual recruitment process like submission of pertinent documents and an initial and final interview.  They will be deployed to the different offices of the LGU for six (6) months from June to November in order to gain work experience in the field of government services. In return, DOLE will pay the interns an amount of Php 285.00 per day or 75% of the prevailing private sector minimum wage in the province in the form of allowances/stipends.

Ms.  Jennelyn G. Marcelo, OIC – PESO Manager oriented the beneficiaries on the expectations from them as future public servants.  She also reiterated that the brand of governance of Mayor Ferdie’s administration is anchored to “Serbisyong May Malasakit”, that is, every government employee must represent being Maagap, Maaasahan, Magiliw, Magkakatuwang at Mahusay.

Mr. Arnel Dionisio, Mr. Julian Salvador and Ms. Roselle Bautista facilitated the signing of the GIP contract from DOLE in the Municipal Conference Room, Annex Building.

Mayor Ferdie V. Estrella welcomed the GIP beneficiaries as they will soon be joining and experience the reforms and innovations of this administration.  He told the beneficiaries that if they will perform well in their work, the Department Heads and Heads of Offices may recommend their regular employment as they finish the internship program.  He also encouraged those who really plan to be a public service worker to take the Civil Service Examination. He emphasized that government service must be Dapat Serbisyong May Malasakit “because every Baliwagenyo deserves this kind of service.Ang bayan ng Baliwag ay napakaganda at napakaunlad , kinakailangan lang ay magtulong tulong ang mamamayan at pamahalaan.   Hindi pwede na ang munisipyo lang ang gagawa  para maiangat ang ating   bayan. Lahat dapat nagkakasundo, nagkakaisa, at sumusunod upang maging maayos at maunlad ang ating bayan.” To end his message, he extended his gratitude to the DOLE and Cong. Pancho for making this program possible in the Municipality of Baliwag.
